New models have been added to the TDK-Lambda i7A series of DC-DC buck (step-down, non-isolated) converters. Designed for operation from a 28 to 60V input, these 20A-rated versions have been optimised for 48V DC sources to provide trimmable outputs from 0.3 up to 32V. An adjustable over-current limit is also available as an option, reducing stress on the converter or load when exposed to excessive overcurrent conditions, and facilitating fine-tuning based on actual system requirements.

The i7A series is designed for creating 20A to 60A outputs from 12, 24, 36, or 48Vdc sources. Their wide output adjustment capability makes them ideal for use in mobile robotics, drones, medical, industrial, test, measurement, communications, computing, and portable battery-powered equipment.

The converters offer three package styles – a low profile open frame, baseplate construction for conduction cooling, or an integral heat sink for convection or forced air cooling. With efficiencies of up to 98%, power losses are minimised, allowing the products to operate in harsh environments of -40oC up to +125oC temperatures.

The i7A series’ standard features include output voltage adjustment, positive remote sense, negative logic remote on-off, input under-voltage, over-current and over-temperature protection. Evaluation boards are available for simplified qualification.
