The PY family of 20W to 200W railway and industrial DC-DC converters encompasses input ranges from 8.5V up to 160V
The PY family of power modules comprises four series packaged in industry standard footprints. The PYD20 can deliver 20W in a 2 x 1” size, the PYQ50 and PYQ75 30 to 75W in a quarter-brick size, and the PYH200, 200W in a half-brick format. All models have, as a minimum, a -40°C to +100°C case temperature rating.
The PYD20 has an ultrawide 8.5V to 160V input and single and dual outputs of 5V up to 24V and ±12V to ±24V. The PYQ50 has an input of 14V to 160V and 5V up to 48V outputs. The PYQ75 has a 9V to 75V input and 12V to 48V outputs. The PYH200 has a 14V to 160V input and 12V to 48V outputs.
The wide range inputs of the PY series enables one model to be used for multiple input voltages, reducing the number of part numbers to be kept in inventory. This reduces cost and simplifies purchasing logistics. It enables the end design to be used in multiple applications, supporting nominal input voltages of 12V, 24V, 28V, 36V, 48V, 72V, 96V, and 110V.
Safety certification and standards include IEC 62368-1, EN 50155 (electronic equipment on rail vehicles), EN 45545-2 (fire protection), EN 61373 (shock and vibration), and EN 50121-3-2 (EMC). Applications for the PY family include railway rolling stock (LED lighting, communications, control, and automated train subsystems), industrial and test and measurement equipment.
