It is a legal requirement in most countries for electrical and electronic equipment to withstand external noise energy and to limit internally generated electromagnetic energy. The levels, limits and test methods are specified in the international standards.

The RSHN series of 250Vac or 250Vdc input EMC filters offers 15 current ratings ranging from 3A to 300A. Unlike many simple one stage designs, these filters have two attenuation stages to greatly reduce the level of electrical noise entering or exiting the equipment. The large number of available current ratings allows the optimum filter to be selected to provide the greatest noise attenuation, while minimizing size and cost.

The series has hinged terminal covers and captive screws to avoid lost or misplaced hardware. The filters have an operating ambient temperature rating of -25 to +85°C with derating above 55°C.

The RSHN filters can be ordered with standard (1mA) or low leakage current (100µA) for medical applications. For industrial equipment, a DIN rail mounting version is available. A five year warranty is standard on the RSHN filters.

The critical components of an EMC filter are the magnetic cores and capacitors. TDK is a technology leader in the design and manufacture of these components. These are used in the R series filters to provide exceptional performance and reliability.
