Ruggedised displays use conduction cooled AC-DC and DC-DC converters

Displays and computer monitors used in vehicle and marine applications have to be designed to withstand harsh environments. This includes the ability to operate in high temperatures and under severe shock and vibration conditions.

Developing a series of ruggedised monitors for mobile use, engineers had to ensure that the power supplies and DC-DC converters could be conduction cooled to withstand high temperatures. As the input voltage varied between applications, products with different input voltages had to be readily available.

Consulting with the local TDK-Lambda sales team, the PFE1000FA-48 AC-DC power module was used for their AC input models. The 24Vdc input CN100A-24-12 DC-DC converter was chosen for vehicle use and the 100W and 150W rated PH-A series picked for high voltage 200 to 425Vdc input requirements. All the models have baseplate cooling for cold-plate mounting.

TDK-Lambda offers a wide range of board mount DC-DC converters. Please click here for more details.
