600W peak power supply used to sync LED lights for high-speed cameras

Posted by David on March 9, 2021

High-speed cameras often require short exposure rates to minimise blur when a high f-stop is selected. This requires very bright strobe lights, which LED lighting can provide. The LEDs can be controlled using pulse width modulation.

With a demanding peak power requirement, engineers designing an industrial lighting controller for high-speed cameras chose the TDK-Lambda 24V output CUS600M-24. With a continuous convection cooled rating of 400W, the power supply can deliver 600W peak for up to 10 seconds. The compact 127 x 76.2 x37mm size saved space inside their system.
