Digital laser projectors use low audible noise conduction-cooled power supplies
Digital laser projectors are producing brighter, larger and more impressive dynamic displays. This has increased the amount of power they consume, their size and weight. Likewise, the amount of audible noise they create has gone up significantly, and manufacturers strive to address this issue.
The designers of a new digital laser projector wanted to utilise compact 12V 600W output power supplies that did not require fan cooling. TDK-Lambda’s salesperson recommended the CM4 conduction cooled power supply. It was demonstrated that heat generated by the power supply could then be transferred to a cold plate on the outside of the projector. This concept was accepted by the development team, and locally built samples were quickly delivered.
