Energy efficient power supplies used in emergency lighting systems

Posted by Martin on November 11, 2020

Emergency lighting systems have become very sophisticated with the use of centralised controllers. Exit indicating signage can be permanently active, dimmed during normal operation or only turned on in the event AC power is lost. However, dynamic escape route systems will direct building occupants to exits that are free from smoke and fire.

Requiring a 24V 10A DIN rail mount power supply, the designers of a new emergency lighting controller contacted their local TDK-Lambda salesperson. The cost-effective DRB-240-24-1 240W rated DIN power supply was proposed and designed in due to its long field life, narrow 41mm width, 93% efficiency and low load power consumption.
