Can DRM40 DIN rail redundancy modules deliver peak power ratings?

Posted by Martin on May 22, 2020

Application story residual concrete cleaning from rigs

Many industrial loads draw peak loads for short durations of time. This can occur when a DC motor is first turned on, for example. A power supply capable of providing a peak current is smaller and more cost effective than using a higher rated model that can deliver the peak current continuously.

The DRM40 series of 20-40A DIN rail redundancy module can deliver a peak current of up to 150% of the rated current for up to 4 seconds with a duty cycle of 35% for use with capacitive and inductive loads.

However, care must be taken to ensure that the RMS current does not exceed that rated current.
