What are the key features of the CUS1500M medical AC-DC power supplies?
This video covers in detail how TDK-Lambda’s CUS1500M AC-DC power supplies combine impressive features with excellent performance. The series has been certified to the medical safety standard IEC 60601-1 and the industrial safety standards of IEC 62368-1 and IEC 60950-1.
Five standard, nominal output voltages are available, 12V, 15V, 24V, 36V and 48V, with an adjustment range of -15% up to +20% to accommodate non-standard requirements.
Cooling is provided by an internal variable speed fan with less than 45dB noise at 70% load in a 30°C ambient. This minimises operator fatigue and provides a quieter environment for hospital patients. The CUS1500M has a flat efficiency curve with levels approaching 88%, minimising internal heat dissipation. Conservatively rated components, including the temperatures of electrolytic capacitors, ensure long, reliable field life. This allows TDK-Lambda to offer an industry leading 7-year warranty on the product.
Standard features include an isolated 5V 1A standby voltage (always on), opto coupled remote on/off and an isolated DC Good / Fan Fail signal. Up to five units can be connected in parallel for additional power or for redundant operation.
The EMI performance of the CUS1500M is Class B, with a 5dB margin, for both radiated and conducted noise. This makes it easier for designers to obtain EMI certification on their system, and avoids the need for additional filtering and screening. More stringent immunity standards for medical equipment, particularly with regard to the growing use of home healthcare, have been introduced. The CUS1500M is compliant to the latest version of IEC 60601-1-2, edition 4. This standard covers input surges, transients and line dips along with tolerance to RF signals and radiated EMI.
Earth leakage current is the amount of current that flows out of the power supply via the earth ground
The CUS1500M series is suitable for both medical and industrial applications. The main markets are healthcare and medical equipment, diagnostic instruments, test and measurement, professional audio, broadcasting and general-purpose process control.
