Hospitals have quickly realised the benefits and cost savings of installing automated medication dispensers. Automated inventory monitoring, bar code scanning authorisation, and the cross checking of patient allergies to the prescribed drugs are the primary drivers.

A contract manufacturer, with whom TDK-Lambda has a good relationship with, needed a 700W multiple output power supply for a new drug dispenser design. A 24V and two 12V outputs were required to power the electrical interlocks to allow hospital staff to access patient medication.  The 7-year warranty modular QM5 was offered for the project, which features very low audible noise. The IEC 320 option was chosen, allowing the end user to plug the AC power cord directly into the power supply to save cost and space.
