Ultrasound techniques have been used for many years for imaging purposes.  Now, powerful, focused ultrasound energy can be used to treat Parkinson’s disease patients, without the need to perform any surgical incisions.

A leading manufacturer of neurosurgical equipment approached TDK-Lambda’s sales team, with whom they had a good relationship.  A 15kW programmable power supply capable of delivering very short pulses of energy (up to 750A) was needed for the ultrasound waves, and the ESS series was suggested.  In addition, five lower power outputs were required, ranging from 4V to 48V.  A 450W modular Vega series power supply was configured to meet the exact needs of the customer.
