How is the audible noise level of a QM medical power supply measured?

Posted by Dulcie on January 18, 2019

In accordance with BS EN ISO 3744:2010, a set of sound pressure measurements has been taken on a hemispherical measurement surface set at a 1m radius from the QM unit under test. From the results, the surface time averaged pressure level is calculated in dBA, according to the formulae in the defined standard.

The audible noise level from the QM7 unit was compared with competitors’ units of similar power levels currently available on the market, the results of which indicate the QM7 is the quietest. We also conducted a blind audible noise test for perceived volume and annoyance and the results from the audited test closely match the quantitative results.
