Compact, conduction cooled power modules power ‘green’ heat sources

PFE series AC-DC power module

Smart buildings are being heated using very innovative sources of energy, including waste heat generated from microprocessors used by green datacentres. The processors are situated locally in offices and provide free heat while being used for cloud based applications.

Requiring a low profile, fan-less AC-DC power supply, the developers of an energy efficient heater chose TDK-Lambda’s PFE series of power modules to power their processors. Utilising baseplate cooled technology, waste heat is transferred to a cold plate, providing additional heating capability without the audible noise associated with fans.

TDK-Lambda offers a wide range of Power Supplies for renewable energy applications, click for more information.
