Constant current supply used for 3D dental printer

3D printing is a relatively new technology and is now rapidly being embraced by the dental industry. Crowns, bridges, models and even night guards can be printed while the patient waits in the dental surgery, using a wide variety of materials. This avoids customers having to book a second appointment and reduces costs.

One 3D printer manufacturer required a 24V bulk supply, but also needed a constant current source for the print head. TDK-Lambda’s application engineer proposed using the medical grade ZMS100-24 and an i6A non-isolated converter, which with a small external circuit could be made to provide a constant current source.

TDK-Lambda offers a wide range of standard and custom Medical Power Supplies for healthcare applications – click for more information.
