Additive manufacturing (AM) utilising 3D printers offers many benefits including weight reduction, rapid prototyping, lower tooling costs and the ability to construct complex designs.

To satisfy the requirement for multiple output voltages and a large amount of 48V power, the nine output, 900W, modular Vega series and the rack mounted 2500W HFE power supplies are being used in a series of 3D metal additive printers.

The standard features of the two products were cited as a reason to use these power supplies.
