The control system for a new wind turbine is powered by TDK-Lambda’s EFE400 series of digital power supplies. These 400W front-end power supplies deliver 133% peak power capability for 10 seconds and offer efficiency of up to 90%. The digital control allows the power supply’s performance, such as current limit and start-up characteristics, to be optimised, which was a winning attribute for this particular application.
