Robotic-assisted surgery, first introduced in the late 1980s, continues to revolutionise medical procedures. In robotic-assisted surgery, to this day, the surgeon still performs the procedure, but through the use of advanced viewing screens. This enables the patient and operator to be located at a considerable distance from each other.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the major benefits of this practice is that the surgery is minimally invasive. Smaller incisions are possible as the robotic arms can be fitted with smaller tools than a human hand can hold.<\/span><\/p>\n

Developers of a surgical robot required a number of output voltages for a new design. Rather than provide several power supplies, their dedicated salesperson suggested the TDK-Lambda <\/span>QM5<\/span><\/a> modular power supply. A configuration was created using the web-based <\/span>Quick Product Finder<\/span><\/a>, consisting of a 600W 48V, two 24V 300W outputs and a standby voltage.<\/span><\/p>\n

The high-efficiency QM series has low-speed temperature-controlled fans that generate a low (44dBA) acoustic noise \u2013 ideal for an enhanced patient experience. The modular construction avoids the need for minimum loading, present on many multiple-output power supplies.<\/span><\/p>\n
