It is critical to regularly test the electrical properties of the oil as they can change with degradation due to oxidation, acids, sludge, gas and water absorption. Oil test sets are used to test samples of the oils and therefore must be robust and intrinsically safe, which is why one manufacturer is now using the PXF series of DC-DC converters from TDK-Lambda.
