The need for very high volume motor and coil winding has led to the development of fully automated production lines capable of product cycle times in two to three seconds. DC motors provide precise control and are used to accurately position the bobbins or mandrels during the winding process.

Requiring a bulk power supply capable of providing 2,500W at up to 58Vdc, TDK-Lambda was able to offer the RFE2500-48, which can have its output programmed or set anywhere between 38.4 to 58V. Endeavouring to minimise machine size, the RFE2500’s 40.6mm height, 107mm width and 354mm length was appreciated by the system designers. Energy consumption is also minimised as the operating efficiency is as high as 93%.
