Power supplies used for particle acceleration

HFE Front End Power supply

Research on particle acceleration is being used for scientific studies to benefit many fields, including medicine, materials, and energy production and storage. A large amount of power is consumed to get electrons to nearly the speed of light in just 0.15µs through the use of radio frequencies and intense magnetic fields.

The quality and performance of TDK-Lambda’s HFE1600 AC-DC rack mount power supplies was the key criteria for using these products. Unlike many datacom power supplies, “split” racks are offered, allowing two sets of different output voltages to be inserted in one 1U rack, freeing up valuable enclosure space for other instrumentation. Input screw terminal block connections were also specified to simplify system cabling.
